观世音菩萨

观世音菩萨* 或阿瓦洛格第索拉（Avalokitesvara）是佛教里最有名的菩萨之一。观世音菩萨被广泛的崇敬为慈悲的体现，菩萨聆听世间受苦受难的众生所发出的求救声。菩萨立誓要救度众生并引领众生迈向证悟之道，因此菩萨能无误的将我们从轮回大海中平安的带往彼岸。

观世音菩萨像是一位仁慈的母亲，菩萨对一切有情众生一视同仁。因此，菩萨对所有众生的慈爱怜悯使菩萨成为了大乘佛教徒的主要的学习对象

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (GUANSHIYIN PUSA)

Guanshiyin Pusa or Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva* is one of the best known Bodhisattvas in Buddhism. Widely venerated by many as the embodiment of mercy and universal compassion, Guanshiyin Pusa means the Bodhisattva who hears the pleas for help from those in distress or suffering in the world. Because of her vows to save all beings and lead them to the path of enlightenment, she will always bring us across the sea of woes safely without fail.

Guanshiyin Pusa is like a benevolent mother, who treats all beings as her own without any discrimination. As such, she is the focus of worship by the Mahayana Buddhist community for her kindness and loving concern for all living beings.

观音诞

观世音菩萨在一年内有三个纪念日是被大乘佛教徒所遵守的。农历二月十九日是观世音菩萨的生日，农历六月十九日是证悟日，农历九月十九日是出家日。这是根据妙善公主的生平而定，而妙善公主被华族广泛地认为是观世音菩萨的化身之一。

COMMEMORATION DAYS

There are three commemorative days for Guanshiyin Pusa that are observed by the Mahayana Buddhist community in a year. The 19th day of the 2nd lunar month is celebrated by many as the birthday; the 19thday of the 6th lunar month is widely commemorated as the Enlightenment Day; while the 19th day of the 9th lunar month is observed as the Renunciation Day. This is based on the life of Princess Miao Shan as one of Guanshiyin Pusa’s manifestations which is widely believed by the Chinese.

*菩萨是为了证悟成佛而在菩提道 上精进修行的圣者。又或者是一位为了继续帮助众生而将自身的佛果位延后的圣者

*僧伽/僧团指的是佛教的比丘及比丘尼。

* A Bodhisattva is someone who is on the path of training toward enlightenment. Alternatively, it may also mean a being who deliberately postpones his full enlightenment in order to help other sentient beings and show them the path to Enlightenment.

* Sangha refers to the community of Buddhist monks and nuns.
